REPRESENTATIVE DEMETRIUS J. ATSALIS ANNOUNCES The
winner OF HIS 2006 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP essay
contest
Representative Demetrius J. Atsalis announced today that his
charity, the Representative Demetrius J. Atsalis Charitable
Foundation, Inc., has selected Marcy Clark as the 2006
recipient of his annual scholarship essay contest. The contest
winner received a $1,000 scholarship to help pay normal
college expenses, such as tuition, room and board, and book
purchases.

ATSALIS ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR J.F.K. STATUE AND McKEON
FIELD Representative
Demetrius J. Atsalis (D- Hyannis) announced today that
two of his amendments were included in the Supplemental
Budget that has been sent to the Governor’s desk. The
amendments will be used to fund two local projects that
are vital to the Hyannis community.

HOUSE
TO LIFT LOTTERY CAP, SEND HISTORIC LEVELS OF LOCAL AID
TO CITIES & TOWNS State Representative
Demetrius J. Atsalis (D-Hyannis) today announced that
the upcoming House Ways & Means budget will lift the
cap on Lottery aid and send the highest levels of local
aid to cities and towns in the Commonwealth’s history.
The proposed total spending represents $920 million, an
increase of $158 million over the current fiscal year
expenditure and $260 million over Fiscal Year 2005.
Yarmouth will receive $1,545,499, and Barnstable will
receive the most of Cape towns at $2,575,171....

70 FY07 BUDGET AMENDMENTS Boston, MA –
Today State Representative Demetrius J. Atsalis
(D-Hyannis) announced he is co-sponsoring two budget
amendments to the Fiscal Year 2007 budget that would
restore local aid funding for education. As this issue
affects citizens from all walks of life, Representative
Atsalis has signed on to an amendment from fellow
Democrat, Representative Eric Turkington, as well as one
from the House Minority Leader, Representative Bradley
Jones, a Republican.

THE ADOPTION OF SEVERAL FUNDING PROPOSALS
IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2007 BUDGET Representative Demetrius J. Atsalis announced today the adoption of several of his key funding proposals as the House of Representatives began work on their version of the Fiscal Year 2007 Appropriation Budget. According to Representative Atsalis, a major earmark was included in this year’s House Budget. The $126,729 appropriation continues funding for the environmental technology program and job training partnership at Cape Cod Community College, a vital link to job creation and employee training on Cape Cod.

has worked together to pass legislation to ensure the
privacy rights of drivers across the state. The bill now
moves to the Senate to be voted on before it is sent to
Governor Romney for his signature.

EXIT 6 1/2 STUDY
COMMITTEE Lt. Governor Kerry Healey is scheduled to appear at the Barnstable airport on February 17th to announce plans to fund a new study on the feasibility of constructing a new exit ramp on Route 6 between exits 6 and 7.
Representative Demetrius J. Atsalis
(D-Hyannis), who has worked closely with the Exit 61/2
Study Committee, said that “There are many benefits to
bringing this project to fruition.” He further stated
that if built, “It would ease congestion on these roads
as well as serve as a boom to business in Independence
Park, which would benefit from easy access to and from
the highway.”
